To Love Is To Be Vulnerable

“Love anything and your heart will be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact you must give it to no one…Lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket, safe, dark, motionless, airless, it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable. To love is to be vulnerable.

-C.S. Lewis

  1. Oh, so true. Love is worth risking a broken heart. It is never wasted. You learn so much from the experience, and it truly helps you to understand others better. How awful it would be to go through a loveless life…to never know the joy or pain. I’m so glad Jesus was willing to love us with ALL of Himself while we were yet sinners.
