Music Wednesday – Hide Your love Away

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

Let me begin with an apology for my absence in the Blog world this week. My dear faithful Jarvis (aka my computer) is a bit sick at the moment. He should be up an running again by this weekend though, and I have a couple good posts I’ve been working on either in drafts or in my head. Stay tuned. 🙂 (This post was blogged from my iPhone.)

Anthem Lights tells a powerful message in this song and the story behind it. (Please watch both, not just the song!) I got chills when I listened to them proclaim what I have believed for my entire life, that saving your sexual purity for marriage is a beautiful thing.

Why I’ve Been AWOL

The reason I didn’t post AT ALL around here last week was that I was at a government camp called “TeenPact.”

Basically, if you’re in the age range of 13-18 (I barely made it.) And you’re a Christian. I HIGHLY recommend it. Even if you’re not planning to ever run for a political office (I know I’m not) it is extremely helpful and promotes amazing Godliness and character.

We Are Not Owned

Today I was flipping through one of my old notebooks (circa 2009-2010). It was one I used for Bible studies, taking notes in Church, and various other Bible-related things. As I was thumbing through the pages,  I found this little monologue I wrote way back when, that I’d thought I’d share with all of you:

{We Are Not Owned}

We are not owned by storms.
We are not owned by trials.
We are not owned by tribulations.
We are not owned by sorrow.
We are not owned by suffering.
We are not owned by pain.
We are not owned by trouble.
We are not owned by darkness.
We are not owned by temptation.
We are not owned by sin.
We are not owned by the curse.
We are not owned by shame.
We are not owned by guilt.
We are not owned by fear.
We are not owned death.
We are owned by Christ.
We are owned life.
We are owned by Truth.
We are owned by freedom.
We are owned by grace.
We are owned by light.
We are owned by righteousness.
We are owned by joy.
We are owned by courage.
We are owned by peace.

SAICFF – 2013

 IMG_7651

It was that time of year again. This time around my entire family journeyed to Texas for the San Antonio Independent Christian Film Festival. (How’s that for a mouthful?) You can read about last year’s adventures here and here.

IMG_7633On our way there we got to see a dear couple who came to our Bible study when they lived in MS. We love you Hunter and Crystal!

IMG_7688We had much fun in Texas. The films were great, and we could tell that the quality had gone way up from last year.

Info about the next Sherwood movie:

  1. It will be about unity amongst believers. (I’m excited because this is a HUGE problem in this day and age.)
  2. The opening scene might be of a group of soldiers fighting overseas.
  3. They are accepting head shots and resumes from believers all over the country now.

Hold on, to me as we go
As we roll down this unfamiliar road

IMG_2983
And although this wave is stringing us along
Just know you’re not alone

IMG_2951
Cause I’m going to make this place your home

IMG_7594
Settle down, it’ll all be clear
Don’t pay no mind to the demons
They fill you with fear

IMG_2994
The trouble it might drag you down
If you get lost, you can always be found

Just know you’re not alone

Distillation

DISTILLATION
~A poem by Andrew Peterson

It’s hard to choose,
Among all that is
And all that is not,
One small thing
To make much of:
One cell,
One star,
One wind,
One wound,
One old broken truck,
One undeniable infatuation
With one untouchable soul;
To pen a span of words
With myriad meanings,
Arranged just so, in order
That they might mean
That one single thing
Which can mean
A million things–
Depending on
The reader,
And the hour
He or she reads it,
And the angle of light,
And the heart’s condition,
And the temperature of the air,
And the presence

(Or absence)

Of demons
Or angels,
Personal
Or impersonal,
And the song that played
In the bakery and mingled
Perfectly with the aroma and
Aerated the anger, just enough
That the poem might seed the soul
With a fleeting, sacred silence–
Just enough to plant the secret
God is telling–the one thing
We’re all dying to discover–
Even if we have to find it
In a poem.
